THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME/MOM VISIT

WEDNESDAY 10-17-2012: Last week we went to visit my MOM. She was having a great day with us and picked up the rules of Kings on a Corner really fast. We played cards most of the afternoon. I read to her out of her Dad's diary that I found in the closet. She said she didn't remember doing all that. lol She had to be reminded that it was her dad's memories. WEDNESDAY night/THURSDAY day: 10-17/18-2012: That evening we went to Gloria and Davids. David needed a ride to the hospital for a scope in his throat to check on his esophagus and his cancer check there. He was good. Bob ended up taking him because Gloria was suddenly ill from her shower and I stayed home with her and made her lunch etc. She read a book most of the time the guys were out. I don't know how because I couldn't read with a migraine if you paid me. That afternoon we went back to visit MOM. It was the annual fall Chili/Soup supper that evening for Vintage Park (where she lives). This is the second year for us to go to be with her at this event. Bob left with me and then when the time came he went back to get David so he could have supper with MOM. She won a door prize (A scarecrow head to hang on her door). She was having a good time until it was time to go and she got disoriented and wanted us NOT to leave her there. FRIDAY 10-19-2012: We had lunch with MOM. It was a very good meatloaf. We enjoyed our time with her and sat at her table with Margie. Mom introduced us a number of times. I finally asked Margie some questions to which the answer was "I don't know, or I don't remember". So she was lost and pretty much not a good conversationalist. While there the nurses had a chest x-ray set up for MOM in her room (a portable x-ray). She had started with a congested cough. It was really sweet of them to take good care of her. Cheryl (nurse) has a genuine affection for MOM. You can tell by the way she holds her hand and hugs her. We were going to take her to Uncle Chuck's 80th birthday party on Saturday and the nurse said she didn't know we will see. SATURDAY 10-20-2012: We went to visit MOM. We brought in Kentucky Fried Chicken and we ate in her room with her. She was worse in her cough and she is horse and just not feeling good. Also, her hearing aids were not working for her and whistling a lot when placed in her ear. So we had to talk very loud. Needless to say we didn't take her to Drexel for the Birthday Party. We left her and went to the party 2 to 4 p.m. My Uncle Vern, Aunt Betty, Cheryl and Tammy and Mark & wife Carol (Betty's kids plus grandkids). Uncle Chuck doesn't look 80 nor act 80. We decided to come home right after the party. We left at 4:10 and got home by 8:00 p.m. It was a long ride. Bob had caught a coughing/sneezing cold so I drove from Sedalia on home. THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!!

Soup's ON

'Well' I decided to make some soup from the Pinterest Wall "Skinny Soup". I didn't have 2 potatoes, I only had one regular potato and one sweet potato. This can work!!! So I proceed with the directions. I cannot find my emersion blender so I decide I can use my blender. I load the blender with the potato's and the milk. I turn it on and SPLOWIE. Everything blows. My whole front of my shirt is splattered with potato milk mix. The backsplash is also splattered. The floor is splattered. The milk has leaked out of the blender all over the counter. Besides the mess to clean up, off me and the kitchen, I still have to blend the cauliflower. So I readjust the blender and do more. It is still oozing out the back of the blender bottom. WHAT did I do wrong. So not everything is blended but I put it all back in the pan and use the potato masher to finish. I got a bowl for Bob and one for Me. It was so good. Now Bob is going back for a 2nd bowl. We didn't have sour cream or onions but had the cheese and turkey bacon bits. He reloads and on his very first bite he gets 3/4 of a rubber ring. YIKES We ate some rubber ring. NO WONDER the SOUP WAS ON me and everyplace in the kitchen. Soup is going to be thrown out!! Sadness.

FOXY or KATO?

Yesterday I was taking the clothes down the stairs and Foxy jumped down from the window sill to tag my hand (only I had both hands busy hanging onto the basket so she didn't get to tag me.). She waited for me to come back up the stairs. Patiently.. silently.. No sign of her so I was relaxed and as I got to the top of the stairs, she POPPED out of a box and the noise from her body coming through the box and that she startled me and shocked me that I SCREAMED!! She loves to play tag. I will have to go through the house saying "KATO?" LOL

BRAVE and ANNOYING FISHERMEN

TONIGHT: We went to see "Brave". It is a movie from Pixar. They did a nice job with all the scenery and the horses were amazing. We went with Kris G. She loves these movies a lot. Spongebob went too. He hardly ever goes to a movie. Today (yesterday now) is/was Todd's birthday and Robby's was just 2 days ago. We hope they enjoyed their day. Today (June, 23rd) our friend from church passed away. We are truly sad. He is 85 years young (my dad would have been the same age if only..). Anyway I loved listening to him talk and he was sharp in his mind and was lovely to be around and had many interesting stories to tell. God be with you Fred!! We have some annoying fisherman in our back yard, well in the water in the back. They are very close to our dock. They have bright lights on and they make me not happy to see them in my space!!! Makes me nervous. Also, Spongebob has been feeding the catfish at night and he is restricted tonight because of the intruders. Not that we have a corner on the fishing and all, it just seems rude to be in our cove. I am sure they are taking more than their share of fish as Bob found them jug fishing last week end. They seem to be greedy. AND we are all neighbors, why make trouble.

DRIVING WITH SPONGEBOB

This week: The weather is warmer now and in the car it gets pretty hot sitting in the sun at the store. So we left the parking lot and this is what happened. We were driving down Missouri Blvd. and I said to Spongebob, (He was coasting along at a clip and I was a bit nervous about his speed.), "it is 35 in here." He reached down and turned the fan up to 3 on the air conditioner. He said "Are you talking Celsius?" "How do you know?" I pointed to the speed limit sign.....

CHRISTMAS, SURGERY, NEW YEARS

CHRISTMAS:
We went to Stacy's right after church. Sean was all set to make Amereto Sours. I said yes then had to say no (surgery rules). Oh well, next time.

We had a sleep over and the next morning we had our opening of presents. My goodness Santa was good to us. I got a D.S. (which I had asked for) and many games. The best one is the Brain Age. I tried it out and have a brain age of 64. That is 7 years more than I am old. Feeling sortof bummed (but also knowing I wanted something like this to stimulate and get going) Bob tried it out. Hummm.. He got a brain age of 80. Whoo hoo. I don't feel so bad. Kris Gilman wanted to try. She also got 80. She said I want to try again. So we put in Melo's birthday etc. She tried again and it was still 80. Now I know I am going to practice and get better than my age.

P.S. Bob tried again last night and he is now 63 brain age. It helps to practice.

SURGERY.
Day after Christmas I was in the surgery unit in Columbia. I was really calm. I guess I was ready for things to be different down there.

After about 1 and 1/2 hours I was in the recovery room. Bob missed the Dr. because he went out of the hospital to do a couple of things and didn't get back in time (the Dr. told him 2 hours - but he was quicker than that.) So the Dr. came in to see me and said everything went fine. I was just wanting more nap. The exit nurse asked me if I had my perciset with me. I said no. She told me to take some when I got home. MISTAKE.

I took it and ended up throwing up and passing out. Talked to the Dr. (Gloria prompted me to do that - thanks glo). He said no to the perciset. I got a lot better by the third day. I have had naps everyday. So...thanks for all the prayers and good wishes.

NEW YEARS EVE.
Bob wanted to spend New Years eve alone (him and I) so he could go to bed when he wanted to. (He has been sleeping off a cold) BUT...Kris Gilman was spending it all alone (only Maggie, her dog, to keep her company). She said let me bring pizza and some movies. TA DA instant party.

Bob had already gone to the store to get stuff for banana splits. That is what I wanted for New Years eve. So we had one more for splits. It was fun, although I sat on my bum too long and got the throbbies.

We saw..Hairspray (boring) couldn't wait for that one to be finished.

White Chicks. Loved it all the way.

Wild Hogs. OK - had some fun parts.

Kris spent the night and went home early in the morning. Had to feed her horses.

Been to PICU/Adam is in the hospital

I am in Kansas City at Childrens Mercy. I specifically went the the 2nd floor to check out the Ronald McDonald family room. Guess what?? It is in the PICU area. I got lost. Had to go back to ground floor and start over. No one was manning the family room. We were trying to get a bedroom for the night (in the ronald McD house)but may have to go to the parent room.

Adam is here with an after flu problem. His blood platelets are low low low. He is getting medicine and it makes him feel like the flu, vomiting, headache and fever. We have been (Bob and me) with him all afternoon today to let Cindi get a break and get some things taken care of at home. She will be here soon. If the blood count goes up tomorrow he may get to go home. But otherwise stay for additional treatment. There is even talk of a test of his bone marrow so they can use steriods. This is not in the cards if his count goes up.

He is looking very small. He slept a good deal of the day away. We are watching movies and he has a playstation 2 with games to play.

Pray for him!! Only well people can come in this ward no germs allowed.

- JUDY how do you sleep in chairs?? I did last night and it is no picnic.

Bob spent time with Melo's boys and the night at her house last night. He will stay here tonight. All for now. keep you posted as we get more news.
