THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME/MOM VISIT

WEDNESDAY 10-17-2012: Last week we went to visit my MOM. She was having a great day with us and picked up the rules of Kings on a Corner really fast. We played cards most of the afternoon. I read to her out of her Dad's diary that I found in the closet. She said she didn't remember doing all that. lol She had to be reminded that it was her dad's memories. WEDNESDAY night/THURSDAY day: 10-17/18-2012: That evening we went to Gloria and Davids. David needed a ride to the hospital for a scope in his throat to check on his esophagus and his cancer check there. He was good. Bob ended up taking him because Gloria was suddenly ill from her shower and I stayed home with her and made her lunch etc. She read a book most of the time the guys were out. I don't know how because I couldn't read with a migraine if you paid me. That afternoon we went back to visit MOM. It was the annual fall Chili/Soup supper that evening for Vintage Park (where she lives). This is the second year for us to go to be with her at this event. Bob left with me and then when the time came he went back to get David so he could have supper with MOM. She won a door prize (A scarecrow head to hang on her door). She was having a good time until it was time to go and she got disoriented and wanted us NOT to leave her there. FRIDAY 10-19-2012: We had lunch with MOM. It was a very good meatloaf. We enjoyed our time with her and sat at her table with Margie. Mom introduced us a number of times. I finally asked Margie some questions to which the answer was "I don't know, or I don't remember". So she was lost and pretty much not a good conversationalist. While there the nurses had a chest x-ray set up for MOM in her room (a portable x-ray). She had started with a congested cough. It was really sweet of them to take good care of her. Cheryl (nurse) has a genuine affection for MOM. You can tell by the way she holds her hand and hugs her. We were going to take her to Uncle Chuck's 80th birthday party on Saturday and the nurse said she didn't know we will see. SATURDAY 10-20-2012: We went to visit MOM. We brought in Kentucky Fried Chicken and we ate in her room with her. She was worse in her cough and she is horse and just not feeling good. Also, her hearing aids were not working for her and whistling a lot when placed in her ear. So we had to talk very loud. Needless to say we didn't take her to Drexel for the Birthday Party. We left her and went to the party 2 to 4 p.m. My Uncle Vern, Aunt Betty, Cheryl and Tammy and Mark & wife Carol (Betty's kids plus grandkids). Uncle Chuck doesn't look 80 nor act 80. We decided to come home right after the party. We left at 4:10 and got home by 8:00 p.m. It was a long ride. Bob had caught a coughing/sneezing cold so I drove from Sedalia on home. THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!!
