Been to PICU/Adam is in the hospital

I am in Kansas City at Childrens Mercy. I specifically went the the 2nd floor to check out the Ronald McDonald family room. Guess what?? It is in the PICU area. I got lost. Had to go back to ground floor and start over. No one was manning the family room. We were trying to get a bedroom for the night (in the ronald McD house)but may have to go to the parent room.

Adam is here with an after flu problem. His blood platelets are low low low. He is getting medicine and it makes him feel like the flu, vomiting, headache and fever. We have been (Bob and me) with him all afternoon today to let Cindi get a break and get some things taken care of at home. She will be here soon. If the blood count goes up tomorrow he may get to go home. But otherwise stay for additional treatment. There is even talk of a test of his bone marrow so they can use steriods. This is not in the cards if his count goes up.

He is looking very small. He slept a good deal of the day away. We are watching movies and he has a playstation 2 with games to play.

Pray for him!! Only well people can come in this ward no germs allowed.

- JUDY how do you sleep in chairs?? I did last night and it is no picnic.

Bob spent time with Melo's boys and the night at her house last night. He will stay here tonight. All for now. keep you posted as we get more news.

THE STICKY STORY

Once upon a time....We took Christy to El Jimidor for supper and the waiter spilled an entire glass of soda on her. She got her meal free tried to clean up and we left.

We went to a Block Buster to get a movie for the night and I wanted Christy to go in with me so we would get a movie that was good and fairly recent. (I have a problem with finding the right ones). Anyway - she declined to go in because she was STICKY.

The next day we took her to Buffalo Wild Wings in Columbia. She was playing the trivia games with the other customers. It was viewed on TV's through out the room. She named herself STICKY.

We could hear a young man say "Yeah, in your face Sticky", when he would top her points. It went back and forth like that. She always topped his points and then he would say something very loud to STICKY that he was again ahead. Christy was giggling every time the young guy would lose to her or go ahead of her in points. She had a good time. Then all of a sudden the kid had to leave. We could hear him going to each table asking "Are you Sticky?, Are you Sticky?". He obviously wanted to meet his nemisis. He never got to our table before he left. Christy was snickering to beat the band that she remained anonymous.

IN YOUR FACE STICKY!! is what we remember the most.
